About

Perth Japanese School is run by local married couple, Jake and Mayumi Hudson.

Jake graduated from the University of Western Australia with a BA in Linguistics, and spent 3 years living and teaching English in Tokyo. He established Orient Japan in 2004, a business teaching English and providing support services to Japanese visitors to Perth. In 2009 Orient Japan began providing educational consulting and support services to Japanese clients, and it continues to this day to be a registered agent of many of the city’s leading education institutions.

Mayumi studied apparel manufacture in Tokyo, and then spent several years working as Production Manager for a local clothing manufacturer. Opting for a change of pace in 2003, Mayumi went to Uzbekistan to teach apparel manufacture at the University of Samarkand as a volunteer with the Japan International Cooperation Association. So she speaks Uzbek as well as Japanese and English. After her marriage in 2006, Mayumi spent 3 years studying English at TAFE before joining Jake at Orient Japan to work as an education counsellor.

Perth Japanese School is located inside the Orient Japan office, conveniently situated at 37 Barrack Street in the heart of the Perth CBD. Jake and Mayumi work together to develop lesson content, drawing on a wide range of materials and a lifetime of experience. The teachers are native-speaker Japanese who are very fluent in English, and who take genuine pleasure in introducing their native language and culture to the Australian community.

Learning a second language is a truly rewarding experience. Book a lesson today, and let Perth Japanese School help you take the next step along that path.
